Divya Spandana, best known by her screen name Ramya, was an Indian former cinema actress and politician who was born on November 29, 1982. She was a Member of Parliament from Mandya, Karnataka, in the Lok Sabha. She primarily works in Kannada, with some Tamil films thrown in for good measure. Ramya has won two Filmfare Awards in the South, as well as a Udaya Award and a Karnataka State Film Award. Ramya became a member of the Indian National Congress's youth wing in 2012, and she went on to win a by-election in 2013 to represent the Mandya constituency in Karnataka, but she was defeated in the general elections the following year.
